about

The Visit” started life as Pat’s acoustic guitar idea, lovingly called “capo 4th fret” until Irene eventually found words to go with his melody. The song tells the story of someone who’s passed away but returns briefly to see their people, ultimately reassuring us it’s not so bad on the other side. Recently, everyone in the band suffered through the loss of loved ones, and the world lost almost 8 million souls to COVID, so far. Writing this song was therapy, as we move a little further along the path to truly understanding we all eventually wind up in the same place, wherever it may be. Or maybe it’s nowhere at all. For now though, we like to imagine it is a place, and it’s “soft and warm and smells like wine.”

lyrics

i came to see the ones i left behind
i came to find the feeling of alive
but the world is still in chains
the rage still remains

you get past the shock
it’s really not so sad
speaking honestly
it’s better than the way it was
truth is eventually
you’ll all end up the same as me
you’ll see it finally
that nothing really matters in the end

the other side is soft and warm and smells like wine
and i don’t miss the noise and all the lights - in the dark we’re all the same - only love without the pain

you get past the shock
it’s really not so bad
speaking honestly
it’s better than the way it was
truth is eventually
you’ll all end up the same as me
you’ll see it finally
that nothing really matters in the end
in the end
i have to go
i want you to know
I’m ok

about

Medea Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Torchy sinister dramatic, sexy doom & gloom.

"A post-pandemic Medea has resurfaced with more to say, about love and loss, evil and lies, magic and mystery. The usual Medea stuff, but now filtered through older lenses shaped by tragedy & flavored by the ever-present feeling that time is growing short. The band mined this deep emotional ore, and found the most powerful music Medea has ever made." ... more
